Personal History Mira is the second oldest of the seven children of Robin and Sonia Evans, and grew up in a large extended family with a long tradition in academia, particularly in the liberal arts. At an early age, Mira revealed a talent for polyglotism, which translated into the etymology of different languages, and a curiosity about the history of societies behind those languages.

By the age of sixteen, Mira had earned her first doctorate (in linguistic anthropology). Mira might have spent her entire life collecting degrees and academic accolades except that, when she was twenty-five, she saw the Aerellian Starship. Actually, what she saw was the transmission of a Vega probe transiting the "far side" of Sector 557-B of a 'starship' that was the most beautiful sight she had ever seen.

From that moment on, Mira committed herself to finding everything out that she could about the Aerellian (as the theoretical species behind the ethereal ship was designated).

Unfortunately, the only evidence that the Aerellians existed was the brief transmission from the Vega probe. No matter what race she interviewed, there was not even the hint of a legend of the mysterious Aerellians. However, in her search for anything about the Aerellians, Mira became the Federation's leading expert on (what little was known) about the races and governments in Sector 557-B, and was specifically recruited for the Nomad's mission.
